Cold Morning, Sunny Afternoon! And Farewell Barcelona

The sun came back today but before it did we went to Blue Bottle for coffee.

IA got a mocha and brioche

Four of us today

Before IZ had to go I tried to take her picture...

Next time!

Sun came out for Jons Street Eats at 40th and Webster in front of Manifest Bicycles.

CH got a grilled tuna sandwich

IA and I got grits and greens, delicious!

And now some sad news...

Barcelona, Stalwart Member of the Lake Merritt Mussels, Foldable Bike and Dear Friend to T, Kidnapped and now Presumed Gone Forever

Barcelona was only two months old.

Although - properly parked and locked - in busy downtown San Francisco, last Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock PM, thieves quickly cut the cables and absconded with foldable Citizen bicycle, Barcelona.

Barcelona is survived by T.  They met over two months ago on the internet.  During their brief time together, they were inseparable and shared many fond memories.  Since Friday, not giving up hope, T has been scanning Craigslist and Ebay for any postings for "bike for sale" - looking for Barcelona.  Good Luck T!  If you have a tip, please let T know.  Below are some of T's fav pictures.

We'll miss you, Barcelona!!!

  2. I know this post is 2 years old, but the issue of bicycle theft is still relevant. How can we combat bicycle theft? You did everything right and yet you're bicycle was stolen in broad day light. I think what this situation calls for is a chain that can't be broken with chain cutters, a chain made out of grade 8 hardened steel, perhaps? Master lock makes some of the best combination locks, which are virtually pick-proof. However, if your chain can be cut this certainly wouldn't help anyone. We need chains that can't be easily cut with bolt cutters
